CARE International in Vanuatu has a focus in Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Inclusive Governance and Emergency Response and Recovery.
We are looking for a Project Officer to join the Pacific Girl program team. This position is based in Port Vila with possible travel required to islands within Tafea Province. This role may also line manage short-term contractors for the project deliverables.
The major responsibilities will be varied and will include:
- Ensuring an effective and efficient implementation of Pacific Girl Program activities according
to the activity plan and budget. - Budget preparation for field trip activities
- Mobilise communities and facilitate trainings
- Overseeing Port Vila based community facilitators delivery of the in-school session and their
reporting - Ensuring priority is given to the protection and safety of children participating in CARE’s
program and always ensuring compliance with CARE’S child Safeguarding policy - Monitoring and Reporting
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum technical diploma and/or vocational training in community development, gender or health and/or minimum 2-3 years relevant work experience, preferably in community based violence prevention and response work and/or activity implementation with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO);
- Good understanding of gender equality, and child rights and issues facing adolescent girls and a strong commitment to child protection;
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills in Bislama and good in English;
- Ability to analyse intricate information and produce concise and accurate reports;
- Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment;
- Demonstrated ability to take direction and to work as part of a team;
- Demonstrated experience in following standard policies, procedures and processes;
- A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities;
- Proven ability in managing a budget and/or cash and;
- Good in Microsoft Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
