Job Description:
The Operations Manager is a key position within Pierre Brunet Shipping. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the role involves managing docked crew activities, coordinating loading operations and vessel schedules, ensuring dock safety, and overseeing regulatory compliance for vessel navigation permits.
Responsibilities:
- Managing Docked Crew Activities:
o Supervise the activities of docked crew and ensure smooth operations.
o Ensure the availability and proper allocation of crew members according to operational needs. - Coordinating Loading Operations and Vessel Schedules:
o Plan and coordinate the loading and unloading operations of ships.
o Liaise with ship captains for planning schedules and routes. - Ensuring Dock Safety:
o Ensure compliance with safety standards at the dock.
o Implement and oversee safety procedures to prevent accidents and incidents. - Regulatory Compliance for Navigation Permits:
o Ensure all vessels have valid navigation permits.
o Stay updated on current maritime laws and regulations.
Required Qualities:
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Availability: Ready to intervene at any time to resolve operational issues.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate teams of docked crew and dock personnel.
- Authority: Ability to enforce rules and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience in the maritime or port sector.
- In-depth knowledge of ship loading and unloading operations.
- Familiarity with international and local maritime regulations.
- Team management and leadership skills.
