POWER TECHNICIAN – MECHANIC

Vodafone Vanuatu is seeking for a Power Technician – Mechanic to be based in Port-Vila.

Missions
The mission is to operate, install, commission, maintain and document power systems throughout Vanuatu, including grid and off-grid power systems – Based at Port Vila EFATE.

Activities:

• Power Mechanic technician
• Maintain all Power system linked to Generator sources on Vodafone Vanuatu Network and Buildings
• In charge of Power diesel generators maintenance – Maintain and supervise generator maintenance process and schedule
• Maintain sufficient stock of spares parts for all generators – Supply request, storage and delivery on sites
• Install, commission, maintain generator in the isolated Vodafone Vanuatu sites hybrid system
• Maintain rural power systems, liaise with care takers for regular cleaning of Solar Panels, cleaning of battery terminals and refilling battering distilled water, and performing regular checks to ensure the rural power is always in normal operations – Fault diagnostic and Report on the quality of technical aspects
• Diagnostic on Generator issue – Propose action plan for corrective mission and report
• Mobilization to remote islands whenever required/ whenever there is a fault
• Install, commission and maintain all rectifiers including BTS rectifiers throughout the country
• Maintain and service urban and isolated sites generators on Vodafone Vanuatu network
• Maintain all electrical systems in all Vodafone Vanuatu buildings
• Install and upgrade solar power system
• Assume Preventive and corrective maintenance of power equipment in the isolated Vodafone Vanuatu sites hybrid system
• Be part of the Operation tasks – taking and reporting PMP reports from caretakers and reporting when not taken.
• Receiving phone calls in serious/ critical cases if after hours

Competences:
1. Knowledge

• Certificate or diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical engineering
• Knowledge in mechanic
• Good knowledge in Generator maintenance

2. Skills

• Speak English/ French and Bislama
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in power systems including grid and off-grid power systems.
• Ability to follow directions and procedures
• Customer and service oriented
• Ability to use micro-soft excel
• Have a Valid Driver’s Licence
