The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences is one of the five schools in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment, and offers programmes in Biology & Chemistry at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School has over 3000 full – time national, regional and international students of diverse cultures both as face-to-face and distance (blended and online) learning students. The school also has over 24 full – time academics who are actively engaged in teaching and research.
The Opportunity
The appointee at Lecturer level will contribute to teaching of degree level courses across the Biology curriculum. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the design and delivery of courses through different modes of delivery. The appointee will be expected to successfully attract some research grants (including externally) in the thematic area of research and support the Faculty and University mission and goals as set out in the University Strategic Plan. The appointee will also assist in other task as and when assigned by the Head of School. Please note that there is a provision to transfer campuses on demand. The incumbent must have research publications that meet the University’s Quality of Research criteria at the appropriate academic level
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have: PhD in Biology and normally 4 years of tertiary teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; preferences will be given to those who already possess a teaching qualification and Postgraduate Certificate Teaching (PGCTT) or equivalent; good research publications in ranked journals; ability to teach a range of standard topics; excellent English written and oral communication skills.
Remuneration
The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range:
Lecturer VUV $4,893,894 – VUV $6,439,335 per annum (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
