The Opportunity
PacLII provides free public access to an internet-based library of Pacific Legal materials. The Director is the executive head of the Institute and is responsible for all facets of its operations. PacLII is based at Emalus Campus, Vanuatu, together with the School of Law. The Director is supervised by the Head of School.
Specific responsibilities include: Manage PacLII fund-raising initiatives; manage PacLII finance: prepare budgets; track spending; approve expenditures; manage PacLII human resources; prepare position description; manage recruitment of staff; manage inter staff relations; conduct performance reviews; supervise the Managing Editor and staff of PacLII; monitor and review the quality of PacLII publications and services; liase with ITS respecting support for PacLII operations; advise and assist the Internal Management Committee of the PacLII Institute on all matters pertaining to PacLII; represent PacLII in dealings with external agencies; prepare PacLII reports for donors and University as needed.
The Director will also be expected to contribute to the teaching program of the School of Law, usually by coordinating 2 LLB courses each year.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have: Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; excellent qualifications in common law; understanding of editorial operations needed to produce an internet-based electronic public library of legal materials; understanding of regional needs for an internet-based electronic public library of Pacific legal material; substantial administrative experience; and substantial financial experience.
Remuneration
The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: Level 4 VUV 5,509,116 to VUV 6,694,420 per annum (inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
