in 2009 in Vanuatu by a group of local Christians passionate about social justice and caring for those who are vulnerable in their society.
Job Description:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial operations of Nasi Tuan Enterprises and Charitable Association, ensuring the financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance
requirement. The CFO will work closely with the Managing Director and the Senior Management
team to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and
goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Oversee all financial operations of the Nasi Tuan Enterprise and Charitable Association,
including accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and financial analysis - Ensure accurate and complete financial records, including the general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and other financial records.
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission and
goals Budgeting and Forecasting - Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to create realistic and achievable budgets, and supervise the annual budgeting process
- Report updates and analyses to the Managing Director and Board of Directors on the actual performance in comparison to the budget
- Create and sustain financial forecasting models that facilitate long-term financial planning and decision-making
Donor Relations and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with all donor financial reporting and regulatory obligations, including audits, and other reporting requirements
- Submit timely financial reports to the donor in a format and content that are mutually agreed upon.
- Ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the contractual obligations that Nasi Tuan and the donor have agreed to.
Board Relations and Reporting
- Generate and present the Nasi Tuan Enterprise and Charitable Association financial reports
to the Managing Director and Board of Directors, including analysis and recommendations as needed - Regularly update the Managing Director and the Senior Management team on budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with the Managing Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial policies and procedures that align with the organization’s values and strategic goals
- Represent Nasi Tuan at internal and external events and meetings, providing financial guidance and support as needed
External Partners Relations
- Maintain relationships with external collaborators, such as auditors, banks, and other
financial service providers
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Provide support to the Managing Director and Senior Management team to develop and
implement strategic plans and goals that support Nasi Tuan’s mission and vision - Lead the Finance Committee, collaborating with other committee members to provide
strategic financial guidance and support to the organization - Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous
improvement and professional development - Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that support the
Nasi Tuan’s mission and goals
Compliance and Tax Filing
- Oversee tax filings and compliance requirements, ensuring that Nasi Tuan is in compliance
with all relevant laws and regulations such as timely remittance of VNPF contributions,
property tax and land rent payment, annual renewal of business permit, and all other
regulations requirement
Condition of Employment:
- Open to Vanuatu citizen and residents
- Fluent in English and Bislama
- Based in Tanna
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field;
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management, including 2 years in a non-profit
organization - Proficiency in financial management, including financial strategies development, budget
management, reporting, and compliance oversight - Strong leadership and management abilities, with experience leading high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong interest in mentoring others and teamwork
- Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software (e.g., MYOB, and
XERO) - Expertise in MS Excel
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.

Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience and demonstrable abilities
